O-Ventures hosted a Treasure Run on the conservancy at Olive Tree Farm on 20th September 2022.

So today I’m going to be sharing my experience from yesterday’s Treasure Run event at Olive Tree Farm. And I can honestly say that this was the most fun I’ve had on a hike in a long time 
The Treasure Run is an orienteering event. You are given a map and a compass, and need to find as many of the circled Control Points on the map as you can within a 2 hour time limit. Each Control Point is worth X amount of points. The further away from the start the CP is, the more points it is worth. Each CP has a little punch with different patterns attached to it, which you will need to punch off on a card that you are given at the start of the race. You need to be back at the starting point before the 2 hour time limit is up or you will have 10 points deducted for every minute that you are late. So you need to plot your route carefully before the race starts to avoid being late at the finish. Some people ran, others walked, but each went off in their own direction based on what they thought they could manage in the allotted time frame. One of the things I loved most about this event was that it was family friendly. There were plenty of kids participating with their parents…myself included. Lol. I took my father with me as my partner He navigated while I ran off into the bush looking for the CPs. You are welcome to enter on your own, or as a team of up to 4 people. After the race everyone relaxed and swam by the pool area which had food and beverage stalls (as well as many other stands selling their wares) Then after a short period the scores were tallied and the prize giving began. There were so many wonderful prizes sponsored for this event, my books included 
There were also plenty of lucky draw prizes as well. The day was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. A big thank you to Richard Lund from O-Ventures for designing and laying out the course, and of course the wonderful Ash Davies from Olive Tree Farm for organising this fabulous event. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t wait for the next one.
